Electric Panel Upgrade and Replacement
Select Power upgrades, replaces, and installs electrical panels for homes and businesses across our service area. A typical residential job takes one day: load calculation under NEC Article 220, permit filed, utility disconnect scheduled, old panel out, new service set, circuits re-landed and labeled, then inspection. Standard scope is a 200-amp service with new service entrance conductors, a meter can, two ground rods and bonding, AFCI and GFCI breakers where code requires them, and a Type 2 surge protective device at the panel. Power is off a few hours while the meter is pulled. Commercial work runs the same way on a schedule that fits the building. Electric Panel Upgrades and Service Capacity
We size before we sell. If your amperage is adequate and only the slots are gone, we install a subpanel and you keep the existing service, which is the cheaper fix and we will say so. If the connected load is past what the service carries, we quote the 200-amp upgrade and show you the calculation behind it.
Upgrades we handle most include adding a 48-amp EV charger, a heat pump or second AC unit, a tankless water heater, pool equipment, a shop with a welder or compressor, or a remodel adding circuits. The quote covers the panel, breakers, service conductors, meter work, grounding and bonding, permit, and utility coordination.
Electric Panel Replacement and New Panel Installation
Replacement is our call when the panel is the problem. We pull covers on Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, Zinsco, Challenger, and Sylvania panels every week, along with rusted enclosures and corroded bus bars from coastal humidity. Double-tapped breakers, a scorched bus, heat at the deadfront, or a breaker that will not reset means the panel comes out, and we replace it rather than patching around it.
Installation covers new panels where none existed: subpanels for additions, garages, docks, and detached shops, dedicated panels for pool equipment, meter main combinations on rebuilds, and transfer switch tie-ins for a standby generator. Every circuit is tested and labeled before we close the cover.

A licensed installation covers the full service, not just the box on the wall. Ours starts with the load calculation under NEC Article 220 and the amperage it supports, then the permit and the inspection appointment. We schedule the utility disconnect and reconnect so you know the window, and power is typically off a few hours.
